And one question I had was, if a b_call were to cause an error, then how does it terminate the program? does it just do a POP PC like RET? Or some more advanced way to make sure it is really out of the program?

The TI-OS has some frame pointer storage to keep track of where the stack was when the last App or program was executed, so it reverts back down to that.
