Ah, ok

@foamy: I doubt you have them, but they should look like this:

They actually did have ISA and PCI slots on the same mobo for a couple of years. My grandma's Celeron 400mhz machine had 2 ISA slots and 3 PCI, so I wouldn't be surprised if he has ISA and PCI slots on a somewhat old PC

I never said they didn't

Then why would you doubt he had them? If it isn't an ISA slot thats next to it, and you doubt its PCI, what else would it be?

It could be another ISA slot. Or a CNR slot if he's referring to a slot below his "confirmed" ISA slot.
most of the mobos I have seen with ISA have them below PCI, so I doubt the PCI would be down there (but we do have exceptions I would assume), and usually a CNR or AGP top the mobo for expansion slots, so who knows.

Yeah, I have 4 of those.

Hardware modems don't need a special driver. If your modem connects to the serial port and you know the COM port, the device name is /dev/ttySx, where x is one less than the COM port number. For example, if your modem is on COM2, the device is /dev/ttyS1, or if your modem is on COM1, the device is /dev/ttyS0. You can use this device name to configure your dialup connection.
Does the plug-n-play mean I can ignore that?

Yes.

CNR is always on the bottom. That's the standard.
well, my CNR is above the AGP on my comp (unless it is some other weird port).
I posted this pic a while back and you guys said it was CNR.

What's the model # of your mobo?
I think it is K7VZA by Elitegroup but not sure.
ok, not that I think I will ever use that port though (need to find a good dual head video card I can put in my AGP slot, but from what I read, not many will give me everything I need with that mobo, time for a new system).
Definitely. (Now that I think about it, my system has a CNR slot

)

True, true, but I was giving him some credit in that he could figure out whether or not the slot was identical (in the case of another ISA), and since he saw a pic of a PCI card (posted a pic of one no less), I was also giving him credit in being able to recognize whether or not is was close to the same size
I guess the only thing I know that he could have confused it with would have been an ACR slot, but those aren't exactly common. (although my old mobo has an ACR slot
)
Speaking about old hardware...my aunt gave me a comp a co-worker of hers found in her company's basement

It had a 25-pin serial port
