Strategy games are nice and better than platformers on the calc, but no strategy game can beat a good Mario game, like Super Mario Sunshine or New Super Mario Brothers.
I preferred Super Mario Brothers 1 and 3 over all the other Mario games. Remakes don't catch my attention as much as the originals do (mostly because the developers tend to screw with things and mess it up). Either way, platformers can rarely be played more than one way. Strategy have higher replay values and is (or at least shouldn't be) never the same game twice. That's what makes them interesting and enticing.
