Whenever I do such things as look at the settings, or adjust contrast, Black lines appear all over the text or symbol. The screen as a whole is fine, I can put in a bunch of 8's and have them be displayed with no issues, does anyone have a guess at the cause of this?
This seems like a case of ribbon cable failure, it is very common in 83+'s, and is hard to repair. Maybe send some pictures for more help?
I need to find an old phone or something, as I don't really use one anymore, but I will take pictures.

I'll take a stab at it with my soldering iron, but this seems like a weird way for ribbon cable problems to manifest, as when filling the screen with numbers nothing occurs.
