So, I've seen a couple of shells for the TI-84 plus CE, and perhaps I can make one for my TI-82. The question I have is how do I handle folders and files?
The issue here is the lack of an ASM execution command. Programs such as MirageOS and Ion used these commands to run assembly programs. I'm not sure if a command to run assembly programs exists on the TI-82 though, due to the lack of a catalogue (lets you see every command available for use.) However, I'd imagine that using assembly would be required to let you access memory in such a way.
Ash and CrASH are the canonical shells for the 82. As described by Hacking the TI-82 calculator, you can make arbitrary modifications to RAM contents by restoring a backup file (.82b) from a computer and use that to execute assembly programs- the calculator isn't meant to support it.
The only caveat here I'm wanting to ask is are you referring to the 'original' TI-82 from the 1990's or a newer version such as the TI-82 Advanced Edition Python?
