It's a simple htaccess+php, exactly the way my ticalc.org stats sig works.
its really quite simple. make a php file that echos a png/jpg/gif. make a htaccess file to disguise it as a normal image.
use linking instead of upload.
Exactly. Indeed, linking doesn't prevent large images the way uploading does. :/
