I've been trying to make a simple Hello World program over the past few days and no matter what I try, it will say nothing but syntax error. The stuff I've tried though is for the 84/83 plus however I'm assuming it would work. Heres the code I've tried

:PROGRAM: HELLO
:CLRHOME
:DISP "HELLO WORLD"
:END

What am I doing wrong? Neutral
Try removing the END statement.

You seem to not be using tokens. Just like on the ti-83/84s, you can't just type in the commands using the letters, you need to use the tokens. Pressing 2nd prgm will bring up the catalog where you can find a bunch of tokens including programming tokens like Disp, If, While, Repeat, etc.
Also, Tibasicdev.wikidot.com has the menu locations for every command, so you can avoid having to go to the catalog each time. Also, consider investing in a TI-84 (+)(CE), as many commands do not work with the TI-73.
