I know app development for the 84+CE is not available, but I would like to know how Cesium copies itself to an app.
Cesium has key hooks that render a custom app menu whenever you press the apps button.


It essentially overrides the existing menu with a custom menu that includes itself, keeping the same look as the TI-OS menu.

This is totally incorrect. Cesium is a real app. If anyone actually took the time to read my posts, you would find all you need here: https://www.cemetech.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=14123

I must have missed that one.

I recalled a conversation where someone said that was how it was done, but I guess not.
The difference with a "more real" app is that it can't be transferred to other calcs, or back to the calc from TI-Connect CE, for instance, since it's not signed as the calculator would expect, of course.
