Hi!

I wondered if anyone has an idea of how to make the ti-nspire cx cas show the steps when solving equations?
Can the calculator do it by itself?
I found a site which makes a 3rd party app for it which seems awsome:

They seem to have alot of useful apps - anyone tried them out?

The calculator does not do it by itself. You would have to do something like the app that you linked, which is just programming it in from the ground up. It's complicated to do, not something you whip up on a Saturday afternoon.
