So, after showing my friends a rudimentary "chat" program (If you call a one-way message program chatting! Razz) we had an idea: Could one attach an Arduino to the 8x family to get a "calc wi-fi", provided we also made a single hub?
This would be like gCn, but I'm not too sure on its details; I couldn't make heads or tails of it! If what I'm describing is essentially gCn, then I'll look back into it.

This is very much like gCn, which uses a hub based system.
Alright, thanks! Will look into that, then.
This sounds very much like WiFi globalCALCnet with the Spark Core. The Spark core is an Arduino-compatible board with WiFi on-board, and can extend a CALCnet (and therefore globalCALCnet) network over WiFi. That would be worth exploring specifically.

Edit: And as far as CALCnet chatting goes, CALCnet Chat! seems like what you'd want. Wink
Hmmmmmmmmmmmm.......
Interesting.

And, yes, I am familiar with CALCnet chat! Razz

EDIT: Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Can you elaborate on those "hmmm"s? Do you have further questions, or are you reformulating your project?
