TI 84+ Freezes upon connecting to PC with USB

hi my calculator freezes upon connecting to computer, and the ti connect wont recognize it. I tried clearing the ram and im trying to connect on windows 8, and its version 2.21. can you help me solve this error

I know I'm not completely sure about this, but I know on my computer it only connects if I use a certain usb slot. I'm not sure why it is that way, but it is. Maybe try switching the usb slot you connect it to?

You could try installing TILP to see if it will recognise it?

Bump! Did you ever fix the issue? You may have to clear your rom as well.

Edit: maybe try a silver link or PIC link.
when that happens for me i just play with the ON key and plugging usb in/out, that usually does the trick for me.
