Essentially, this gives the secret service the right to designate areas for 'protected' people for where there can be no gathering and protesting. It's automatically a felony crime if you are arrested, which means jail time.

That video has a bit more on it.

I'm curious as to your all thoughts on this particular subject.
Yeah, this bill sounds really fishy. We do have freedom in protest as granted by the 1st amendment, and there's already a law put in place that says that protesters have to leave a walkway for people to enter and exit the building freely. We don't need this law.

is(as did I) so I figured I'd share this page with you, from which you can email your lawmaker(if you haven't already) as well as volunteer to be a part of the effort to reverse this bill. I signed on because I want to see how congress reacts on March 1st when they can no longer pay for their soldiers.

Does anybody know where this came from? It seems disturbingly familiar to me, but I can't place it.

I thought I recognized it. Thanks.
Pretty much anything coming out of our wonderful federal government has been something that mutilates our freedoms, NDAA our right to fair trial, SOPA our internet freedoms, and now this. I highly doubt that government is looking to *protect* our right to free speech, as doing so usually leads to that free speech being used to badmouth whatever bad thing the government has been doing.
It's funny how you think we still (or ever did) have a constitutional right to unlimited free speech.
I'd love to see what would happen if like, witchcraft were real, and saying a few words could actually have real physical effects, like killing people or burning down buildings. Would we still cherish our right to speak freely, if speech itself could kill?

But you cannot control thoughts, and while baring the right to voice things aloud does not stop them from being thought or spread. Most "magic controlled by words" in fictional works can often also be controlled by thoughts, even if the characters are not aware of this initially.

The Inheritance Cycle by Christopher Paolini covered this rather nicely during the final battle actually, even if the actual ending of the series was a rather large let down.
