Yes, each pixel is either on or off. Even grayscale games only achieve the grayscale effect by turning pixels on and off very fast. And therefore, no, I cannot make the cursor any darker than the rest of the screen. Why are you having difficulties seeing it?
I was just having difficulties seeing it when it's over a black part of the screen (cursor's all black)
Have a setting in DoorsCS to do an XOR blit of the cursor so you can see it?

Why not give it a white border? The Doors CS cursor offers three colors: black, white, and transparent.
