You can get cars for 500 bucks--that's hardly being immensely wealthy.
Really? I always thought cars were $15-$20 thousand. Smile I guess I never really thought about used cars.

Toy car. It makes 60 mph.

There are cars significantly cheaper than that (http://madison.craigslist.org/cto/2778301117.html) and significantly more than that (http://models.audiusa.com/r8).

Let's keep this on-topic, please; no need to interject totally nonsensical posts that add nothing whatsoever to the discussion. This is a website where we value quality of posts over quantity, and people who don't share that philosophy are generally not very welcome here.

Sarah, are you hoping to get anything in particular? How are you celebrating?

Edit: And I know about the more expensive end; my dream Aston Martin Vantage is about $200K.

Working cars cost more. Age and mileage also play in.

Yes, working things cost more than broken things... I'm not entirely sure what you're point here is?
Happy Birthday Sarah!

And seana, I've seen good looking, good running vehicles go for a thousand or less, because the owner was in desperate need of money for other things. So please have a better working knowledge of the subject before going and saying what you did. Thanks.
Old cars that have been in accidents that just need major body work (but are otherwise unscathed) can be pretty cheap too, and a fun weekend/week/month/year long project Wink
this is going somewhat offtopic, but I'd thought it'd be interesting to share that one of my friends was able to pick up an old (likely older than 13-14 years) Toyota Sienna with 200,000 miles in a decent (rather worn, but definitely working) condition for only $50 Razz

Have a good one! I turn 22 on the 23rd of this month. Unfortunately that also means we're not both Aquarius; I forget which sign is at the start of January. It's a bummer you have to wait until Thursday for presents! My friend and his family celebrate Christmas today, oddly. They didn't unwrap any presents on Christmas from family members (friends and such were already opened). I don't quite know how well I'd handle opening presents late for either Christmas or my birthday.

On that, since you haven't opened presents I don't think it's safe to say you haven't gotten a car yet Wink
