An op-amp chip could possibly work. But for now, I think I'll see if I can get that diagram I posted above to work. That is somewhat what someone else did. I saw it in a guide to install their mod chips Wink Should the overall concept of it work?
I think so; just to clarify, what's the K?
A diode. The only problem though is that the only diodes I have drop 1.5 volts. Do the make diodes that basically have no voltage drop?
Silicon diodes typically drop around 0.7V. Rectifier diodes (e.g. 1N4001) are made from silicon, so you won't have much luck there. Germanium diodes typically drop around 0.3V and are are used as signal diodes (e.g. OA90). As they are designed to pass a signal, they are usually only rated for a relatively small amount of current, though.

As Ben says, the chemistry of a diode means that the voltage drop cannot be zero. As the voltage drop decrease, the reverse current that it can withstand before breakdown similarly decreases. A germanium diode would probably do the trick, though, since 1.7V is still in your safe range, right?
Would these shottky diodes work? They are way cheaper and more modern than the germanium diodes. Plus they only have a forward voltage drop of about .5V.
