The backlight sucks too much power out of the batteries and school is in the morning where you won't have to use the backlight.

Nah, a back light drains too much

perhaps there could be a thing to switch the back light on and off?

There is a hardware switch, which is why I like the idea. Smile

I agree that we should aim for something larger than 96x64, though. Probably not square though; square sounds a bit awkward.
