anyone know of a good tablet PC maker?
Definitely go with the Acer Travelmate 300 or c110 line.
9600XT is OK, but just so you know, a 9800PRO is ~$130 and a 6600GT is ~$160, and a much faster X800XL is ~$290
and i can't seem to find a mobo w/ AGP on it now either.....wierd. Anwyay, you might just want to wait a while then, so the vid card upgrade is worth it to ya
i hope u realize that teh 9600xt is faster and better than all the 9800 series and its better than the 6600 series, and thats y it is $150 when the 9800pro is $130 and the only cards out faster than the 9600xt r the 7000 series of nvidia and the x800 series of ati, and i can and do over clok mine way past the performance of all the 128mb nvidia cards
Of course.

yes, um, no.... sorry, you're wrong. the 9600XT is SLOWER than even the 9700PRO. the 9800PRO is faster (roughly 70% faster), and the 6600GT is faster than the 9800PRO (roughly 30% on some games). The 6800GT would be nearly 4x as fast as that 9600XT, and the 7800GTX would be nearly EIGHT times faster than the 9600XT. Go do some research
I was just reading an article that tested the 6600 as fastest overall, with 6800 in close second. The RAM difference did almost nothing.

that article is a load of shit (or the 6800 was running at a higher IQ, with AA and AF on, and at a higher res, or something like that). the 6600 has 8 pipes, the 6800 has 12 with the 6800ultra and GT having 16. 6800GT/Ultra>6800>6600 - its not even a close contest (by comparison, the 9600XT has 4 pipes if i remember correctly, and the 9700/9800 has 8, X800 has 12, all other X800/X850 models have 16, 7800GTX has 24, and 7800GT has 20)) If you could link to that article, I would very much like to see it (even crappy review sites get the 6800 faster than 6600)
as for 256mb vs. 128mb, there is usually a noticeable increase in performance, but nothing amazing. maybe 20% or so depending on the game (games with alot of varied, large textures will max that 128mb out real quick, and performance will suffer greatly. AA will also take a huge performance hit with less than 256mb ram)
the 9600xt is the best ati has made until the x800 series, ur a dumbass and kno jack shit about wut ur talkin about, so dont type unless u kno

Mem-wise I was talking about 256MB vs. 512MB.
512 MB won't do you any good now; much like with the situation of 64-bot processors; software developers just aren't taking advantage of them.
And now MY OMNISCIENT WORD on video cards:
Cards on Windows:
ATI is behind:

Cards on Linux:
ANY NVidia card will mop the floor with ATI's cards
http://www.anandtech.com/linux/showdoc.aspx?i=2229&p=6
thats funny since i have a radeon 9600xt and get about 40 fps on unreal
At what resolution? Is your card overclocked? What brand is it?

What monitor do you have?! I want one...

I was referring to vendor of the card.
Yay for old topic revival. I happen to be partial to the radeon 6800 line.
Niiiice, I <3 dual-core Athlon 64s.

psst, ati does make their own cards
actually ati does, nvidia doesnt
i have a dell trinitron 19" monitor
when i get sum money ima upgrade my mobo, my cpu(s)*, my graphics card, my ram, and ill add sata hdds as i get the money.
the mobo i want takes dual Athlon 64 X2's but only requires 1, so i only hvae to have the money for 1 at a time, theres multiple mobos like this ill probly go with 1 from msi
the cpu(s) will be Athlon 64 X2's
ram will be a few gig sticks of the fastest supported speed
graphics will probly b the highest 1 they have in the radeon x series it willl b 1 built by ati, of course
o and ill probly try to find 2 flat pannels that actually look GOOD at high res, either that or ill get 2 flat screen crts, that match
I'm thinking two lcds rotated and put side-by-side would be cool. Or maybe a big main one and two smaller ones at either side...
