Well my parents are not really tech-savvy
They can open files and type. Oh and my Dad can use external devices.
If I need help with a computer problem, weeelll.... there is really no one to go to.

I'm fortunate to have parents that actually listen to rational discussion and debate and have never been oppressive or tried to take away my electronic devices (which I wouldn't have allowed anyway-my property, my decision about how and when to use it).

My Dad's had trouble using electronics against me. Mainly because of what me2labs said. They're mine, I bought them with my own money, and I'm over 18. It was kinda fun exploiting all his blocks when he would shut off my internet and things though

They were born before those technologies became popular and don't understand how to use them most of the time because at their age they don't learn as easily as kids and students in general. Because of this they hate technology and it seems like they are jealous or something and try to make the new generation conform to the '70s way of life or something. They want us to go outside and do sports, but what if we don't like it and prefer technology? We should be allowed to do what we want.

Amen to that. And I feel many of them don't understand the social aspect of it for us, connecting with people with similar skills and interests. In a pre-internet world, we would have been isolated programmers, and none of us would have been able to do as much and know as much as we do as a collection of programmers sharing knowledge, code, expertise, and support.

I know a few exceptions, but I've found that even being technologically aware or even proficient doesn't necessarily prevent a suspicion of technology (although on average, it does).
Well, the thing about my Dad is he's tech savvy as well. He works for McAfee. Thankfully, he's still learning quite a bit, and I'm still ahead of him in certain areas of computer security ;D

In my case, it was mostly the whole online transaction thing my mother was so paranoid about. Even when I was 20, she did not want me to buy stuff online, even without a credit card. She was scared every single existing online store/transaction services would steal my identity, even if I tried to convince her it was secure. I had to wait until I move out to do it. She only stopped being paranoid after I made like 15 transactions online (Amazon/Ebay) then told here I got no problem (except one item I never received and got a full refund for).
Some people need to quit being so narrow-minded about technology.

Ditto here too. My mother actually went to my bank and asking them to block Paypal from being allowed to transact with my account. Luckily, the block disappeared when they upgraded their systems three years ago.
