## Story
Your mother's cooking is the best in the land. One day, she decided that she
wanted to try making a pie with some rather... exotic ingredients, and she's
assigned the job of collecting them to you. You were okay with this decision,
until you looked at the list. Violets, okay, that's not too bad. Curtong Black
Honey... Isn't that honey only stored next to the Curtong Bee Queen, which
is 3 meters in length??? You probably can't even go there, the closest hive is
10 kilometers away and it's in Avat Forest, there's a guard blocking off the
path leading to the forest, and he's a giant snake, too... Gotta find a way to
convince him. Next up is a sack of gomber, which is a mix of corrupted gelatin
and marsh mushrooms. You could just buy the mushrooms from the market, you'll
leave it for later. As for the gelatin, last you heard, there were very few
reserves in existence and almost all of them are animated and moving and are
VERY dangerous. They're usually sealed underground, for obvious reasons. The
remaining pile of unmoving gel is owned by a single person named Ksum Nole,
and you ain't getting it from him anytime soon. The second to final ingredient,
a bundle of fireblossoms, a flower which can only grow in the Underworld, more
commonly known as 'Hell'. The Devil retired a few years ago so it isn't as
dangeous to traverse as before, but you still have to tread carefully. Last,
but certainly NOT least AT ALL, you need to obtain Isaac Newton's Apple. (sigh)
You're not even gonna BEGIN processing that statement and its implications.
Your mother probably hates you. That's the conclusion you reached after a few
minutes of thinking.
Well, ain't like you got anything better to do, so you decide to go out in
5 days. Best of luck on your journey!
## Gameplay
You are to explore 5 areas. You cannot progress to the next area without defeating
that area's boss, and you cannot go back to previous areas. You start out weak,
but with each battle you gain EXP points which you can use to either level up
your character or to heal yourself. Choosing the former gives you 2 upgrade points
for each level-up you do, which you can use to improve either your maximum HP,
offensive, or defensive stats. There is a total of 21 non-boss enemies, and seven
bosses, five of which are mandatory to progress and the other two being optional.
Enemy battles can be initiated randomly as you move around.
Boss fights can be initiated by walking to the doorway at the very north of each area.
You can fight the extra bosses by walking ~1000 steps in Area 1 or Area 3 for each of
the 2 respective extra bosses. (It's more like 1009 steps because it's a prime number
but that doesn't matter too much here just consider it 1000 steps)
## Battle System
It is a turn-based system. You can do one of three things:
* Attack
* Check
* Flee
### Attack
Self-explanatory. Takes into account player attack and enemy defense.
Attacks cannot be dodged.
### Check
Gives a short description of the enemy you're facing along with its stats.
### Flee
If you don't want to engage in a battle, you can flee.
It's not guaranteed, though, and the chance differs between enemies.
You cannot flee from a boss battle.
If you fail at fleeing, a multiplier is applied to the enemy's attack for that turn
only, and that multiplier varies between enemies.
## Controls
### In overworld:
* Arrows to move
* `clear` to to show pause menu (to save your game and such)
* `mode` to show the upgrade menu
* `math` to heal your character. You need a minimum amount of EXP based on your current level to heal
* `x^-1` to level up your character. The amount of EXP you need to level up is displayed while in the overworld
## Achievements
There are 11 achievements to obtain in this game. You can see them and their details
in the in-game achievement menu.
## Credits
* StephenM for just about everything
* thirdhail and Hadushka for ideas and emotional support
In-game there is an epic credits sequence which I advise you to check out.
Have fun :)
