Well, I see no difference between the 83+SE and 84+SE other than the clock, screen, and port.

Why did they make a new file type for the voyage 200 "which is a 92+ with more memory" and not for the SE?

O.K. for all those people telling me to read previous posts, I did. I just did not understand them. Besides the differences mentioned by Sir Robin, what else is there?

O.K. I think I changed my mind of getting it. It seems very useless. I rather stick with a ti-83+ se.

Useless only for those who know what it really is. (That sounded rather cheesy.) If you already have an 83+ SE then there'd be no point in getting the 84+ SE because the only improvements, major ones anyway, are the USB port and some more preloaded apps. (Then there's that awful look, if you call it improvement.)

Unless I could get it in a weird way.
Plan A:
Wait about six months for sister to go into junior high.
Recommend her to get a TI-84+ SE.
After she does, borrow the calculator to see if it's good, or bad.
May sound cruel, but it works. Provided you have a gullible sister, but I don't.
Plan B:
Still working on it. |

That just might work. A friend of mine a few years back had a sister get an 83+ SE for math. She was in seventh grade taking pre-algrebra or something like that. He ended up using it more than her...

The only thing I'm worried about is if TI-83+ asm prgms will work on these calcs (Gemini 3D, Codex, Lotus turbo Challenge, Whatever!). I noticed that TI-82 and TI-83- asm prgms doesn't work on the TI-83+. I will certainly not buy these calc for now since I don't have any math classes, but I hope that my programs using asm utility will not mess up on it.

TI-83 series ASM programs will most likely not work on TI-84 series calculators. By "100% compatibility" they really mean "100% BASIC program compatibility".

Which is a downside. At least TI was nice enough to leave it in...

So true so true. I hope the creators of asm progs. would be diligent enough to port their games to the Ti-84+

Probably not. And I don't think there will be many asm differences between the 83 and 84 SE's.
