| doesnt MSN Messenger come with Windows? i know it comes with XP, but im not sure about the others... if lots of people have it, then its easy to sign up for an account, and then we just add people to the conversation... |

MSN only comes with WinXP and maybe Win2000 but I don't think so.
Anyway I think that IRC channel should be set up one of these days so everybody can just join the channel and start helping out instead of having to be added to a conversation. mIRC also looks better and more organised compared to MSN and adds all kinds of futures like time-stamping what people say, colour-coding (and much, much more) and you can add your own scripts of course. If you don't feel like downloading mIRC there are web-based apps that let you join IRC hannels.
You can also add password and user levels or a bot so only certain people can join or only certain people are allowed to say anything. |

| We should start right now by assigning people parts in the project. Everyone should post what they want to do and then we all sort things out and get started. First of all, I'm willing to work on the story line,characters(powers,strengths,weaknesses,ect.). Also, I could set up an eproject account. |

but apparenty IRC is easier to use... ok, ill start getting my dad to let me install it ;)
well, i can do some coding, but not things like tilemaps, i am WAYY bad at those... |

I'm very limited in my coding abilities, but I can still help with the code.
Let's not let this project die, ok?
IRC is best, I really don't want to download anything anyway. I can work on getting us a crappy java-based room if anyone is interested.
My opinions on what the game should be:
platform, 8-way smooth scrolling
great graphics (duh!) -- dimensions for sprites?
I don't know about greyscale, it might slow the game down quite a bit. |

|
| no, actually it doesnt slow it down too much... i thing it is something like only %10 slower... i dunno... i think 16x16 would look good... maybe 8x8, but that would look pretty crappy... |

I am able to help out with some of the programming, but my knowledge of asm is limited. However i can do tilemaps, but since im still new to it,i probably wont be that useful in that department.I can work with graphics and all the rest of the nessasary programming, but im not sure that it would fit the smallest size that other programmers get it to,maybee justin could optimize it or something.
What is the story going to be about?
What is the title screen going to look like?
When can we get a seperate section for this? |

| I woudl do 16x16. Eye candy that will provide will be worth the amount the program slows. Remember, everything in life is a balance, understand the balance and you will never be weighed down. |

| 16x16 would look great, and it really isnt too big... |

|
| 16*16? How will you ever get anything done with only a 4*6 square screen? 16*16 may not be too big, but a 4*6 is too small! What's wrong with 12*12? |

| and becasue the nature of of computers, 12 is not divisible by 8, so it doesnt fit as nicely in the screen. However, slightly npon aligned with the screen woudl make the character really stand out form the backround. But there would be more problems then it is worth. It would be a complicated setup. |

| yes, try to add colision detection with an 8x8 bg, and a 12x12 char... |

| I'm pretty sure that we've already decided to do 8x8 background tiles with 16x16 character sprites. |
