The color screen isn't fake, it's just that TI hasn't yet made an OS to make it work correctly... Razz

The LCD driver supports color LCDs, but we have no reason to believe the TI-Nspire actually has one.

I obviously intended it as a joke. But I am surprised that the driver handles color LCDs. TI sure is strange...

A short video of the GameBoy emulator on a real calc: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Rg4RdN2FAU
Thank you calc84maniac, it works impressively well.

There are still a few issues to be addressed or fixed before a stable release of the installer, I need your patience.

wow. This. Is. AWESOME!
How did you get it to work? I repeat an earlier question in asking what kind of exploit this is.

Can we have an unstable/alpha release? Or would such a program be too dangerous?

This Nspire exploit, can you tell us if it has been fixed in later OS updates? Because if not, I can understand the hesitation on releasing it.

ZagorNBK: yes, a buffer overflow is one of the flaws exploited, but not the only one.

brandonw: some of the flaws used have still not been fixed.

For the moment I am not sure how to release the tool because of this.

Well, maybe you could privately send to developers for now (hint hint) :ninja:

There are still two remaining issues.
One of them is the key combo to switch to normal boot. Goplat, if I am not mistaken it seems that the 'ON' key is not correctly mapped in gui.c of the emulator.

You're right; for the normal Nspire keypad I mistakenly put it at row 0 column 9, but it belongs two spaces over to the right, at row 0 column 11.

Is the exploit tested under Nspire CAS and works?

Perhaps instead of releasing the tool (for now), you can give us some details on the things which HAVE been fixed. If nothing else, it gives us something to play with, and the knowledge might lead to other exploits (preferably ones which have been fixed...I'd rather downgrade and play safely than start the cat-and-mouse game of finding exploits after they fix them).

would the ability to be downgraded at least secure the flaw on all calculators released until now, or can the "maintenance menu" be whacked through a simple upgrade?

Also, is TI even interested in keeping the hardware secure, or just not supporting it? With the older calcs, since there were "approved" methods of execution, an average joe could think that it falls to TI to support any broken program that is found, where this would clearly be a hack, so they would have obviously(to the standard grade of idiot, at least) no obligation to help support it.

Thanks.

Are you using IDA? If yes would you be willing to share an export of the symbols you found as an IDC file as we did on yAronet?
