As I compose various graphics and templates for this site and my other projects and jobs, I have found myself alternating between two distinct and equally attractive style of images and icons. The first has appeared most visibly in recent Microsoft products, notably XP Media Center Edition and Vista, thus earning the title of "Vista"-style graphics. In the opposite camp is the smoothly-blended style of icon most obviously dominating Apple products including the upcoming Holy Grail of nerdism, the iPhone. I've compiled something of a comparison, with disassembled examples of each and a discussion of the advantages of the respective designs. Enjoy and digg it!
