Posted: 14 Jun 2012 05:19:06 pm    Post subject: Downloading and Transferring TI Programs

I am new to this site so this may be a topic already covered, but I cannot find it.

We have written a text that is supported by over 150 TI-84 programs only to find that TI is creating all kinds of problems for us:

1. They no longer support TI-Connect on the new Mac OS.
2. The files we have created have the suffix .8xo and we are having trouble downloading those files using TI-Connect for Windows.

Does anyone have workable solutions to these problems? They are making our transfer of our programs to off-site users extremely difficult.

For example, can we simply change that suffix to make them download through Windows?

I am so angry with TI over this situation that I could spit. The TI-84 is the best calculator out there - way better, because simpler, than the Nspires. And they are trying to make it obsolete through this kind of lack of support. All we get from them when we complain are empty promises. And the end result of this for me has been the rejection of our text by MAA, who were prepared to publish it if it were not for these roadblocks.

In any case thanks for any help you can give me on this nasty problem.

You cannot simply change the extension; the contents are encoded differently. Yes, TI is strongly pushing their Nspire line these days, though I feel their pratfalls with the TI-8x series lately has been a result of simple neglect rather than malicious sabotage. I have written at length about TI's detrimental attitude with the Nspire.
