Axe's protocol is much faster and thus can be used in combination with TI-nterface controlling MIDI devices or even ethernet. It also won't freeze when the device is unplugged/plugged in while running axe software opposing to Basic.

Once everything is functional I will release the source so that everyone can play with it.
I'd love to see numbers supporting your claim that the Axe protocol is faster; can you support that with anything? Also, it's been a few weeks since you've been around, hope this project is still going well. You're of course welcome to share any other programming projects you might have on your hands.
