I think so. At my Picasa account, I clicked "link to this photo". Then I checked "Image only", and copied the text in the box.

Hm, indeed it does. What's happening there, is that that's a link for you to send via an e-mail or an instant message. It's not link to embed, for that you'll have to right click - or drag to the URL bar and copy the URL that way - and select "Copy Image Location" or similar.

BETTER OPTION
Underneath the "Embed Image" field is an option for "Image Only." Check that and the URL for the image will be displayed in that bottom box above the checkbox. Copy that

Also, since there is no option to merge topics, you'll need to post the image in the backlighting thread again. Sorry
