When the TI-84 Plus C Silver Edition first became available, we started collecting bugs found in the calculator's OS. The so-called Big Bad Bundle of TI-84 Plus C SE OS 4.0 Bugs topic quickly gathered a large number of bug reports, ranging from minutiae about text alignment to partially-broken TI-BASIC commands and math tools. As of TI-OS 5.0 for the TI-84 Plus CE, we unfortunately found that a fair share of the reported bugs remained in the TI-OS. Now, TI Education has released TI-OS 5.1, and we're happy to discover that TI-OS 5.0 and 5.1 together fix the majority of the reported bugs. Here's what's fixed:
  • [ALPHA]-scrolling the BASIC editor scrolls by 7 lines, not 9. Introduced in TI-OS 4.0 for the TI-84 Plus C Silver Edition, fixed in TI-OS 5.1 for the TI-84 Plus CE.
  • Although the Menu( command accepts 9 options + 1 title (instead of the old 7 options + 1 title), the last two options appear as ??, and choosing those options causes an ERR:LABEL. Introduced in TI-OS 4.0 for the TI-84 Plus C Silver Edition, fixed in TI-OS 5.1 for the TI-84 Plus CE.
  • Using certain Pt-On commands with color codes shows those points as black until the program ends. Introduced in TI-OS 4.0 for the TI-84 Plus C Silver Edition, fixed in TI-OS 5.0 for the TI-84 Plus CE.
  • If you have insufficient Ends for your For/While/Repeat loops, and the graphscreen is active, your program will end with whatever was stored in Ans awkwardly overlaid on the graphscreen. Introduced in TI-OS 4.0 for the TI-84 Plus C Silver Edition, fixed in TI-OS 5.0 for the TI-84 Plus CE.
  • Three characters are incorrectly drawn in small font: [, λ, and μ. Introduced in TI-OS 4.0 for the TI-84 Plus C Silver Edition, fixed in TI-OS 5.0 for the TI-84 Plus CE.
  • StorePic does not store graphed functions if a Text( command was used since the last time context was switched to the graphscreen. Introduced in TI-OS 4.0 for the TI-84 Plus C Silver Edition, fixed in TI-OS 5.0 for the TI-84 Plus CE.
  • Sign extension of HL and DE in TI-OS 5.0, fixed in TI-OS 5.1. Cemetech member MateoConLechuga reported this bug to TI, and it was fixed!

You can download TI-OS 5.1 for your own TI-84 Plus CE graphing calculator at the link below (an use TI Connect CE to send it to your calculator). If you find any new bugs, please post in the Big Bad Bundle of Bugs.

I wonder if any of these bug fixes will find their way to the CSE.

I think it's safe to assume that TI has effectively disowned the TI-84 Plus C Silver Edition at this point, considering its sudden absence from all of the pictures on TI Education's website. I wouldn't hold your breath.
