Hello everyone!

I've had this idea for a program sitting around for a while. The function is to take user input (a number typed in or controlled via direction keys) and output a MIDI beat clock.

Things I Know:
MIDI is digital logic, so it's sending 5 volts for a pulse
    pulses)
5 pin MIDI over a DIN connector has plus and minus 5 volts on 4 and 5, 1 and 3 are unsused and 2 is ground (which means the link port's tip ring and stripe connectors give us enough connections)
    midi's data rate is 31.25kbaud

Things I Need to Learn:
    assembly (that's a big one)

I'm pretty sure that electronically this is feasible. Does anyone have any thoughts or suggestions on where to start?
I'm afraid I never gave this topic the response it deserved. Anyway, all of this is reasonable to implement on the TI-84 Plus calculator, which I believe is what you said you have, so I think the first thing you'll need to do is start learning a little bit of assembly. Do you simply need to send a pulse at a constant rate, or do you need to modulate it to send data in some way?
