i've been asked to introduce myself on this thread.
i'm a big fan of calculator repurposing, mainly on Casio and HP platforms. i'm interested in graphics programming and making new calculators for calculators!
i did this some time ago for this 9860g, http://www.voidware.com/reckon/
i've been hacking a bit on the Prizm. i've managed to get a few things going, but it's early days. hopefully, i can get answers and "magic spells" from the community.
happy hacking!

Hi
I'm from Omnimaga mainly, so some of you may know me, but I havent been active lately. However I am making an effort now to get online now, so I figured I'd make an account here.
I make gamemaker games (I'm currently learning GML) and I plan to learn Python soon. I own a Casio fx-9860g Slim, but due to the Casio Kingdom dispute, I have nothing on it. (I did but I refformatted my comp and updated my calc OS to v2, which deleted everything.) I lost it since I didnt use it Im hoping for a PRIZM soon however. _________________

Welcome to Cemetech, ink213; I hope you'll find yourself at home here! We have lots of experienced Python programmers here, so don't hesitate to make a topic if you have any questions to ask. I hope you do indeed get a Prizm; would you write BASIC, C, or both? Do you have any TI-8x calculators? _________________

No, I don't have any TI calcs, and I'd probably learn C, since my friend already knows it, or at least most of it. I found my calc! Yay! Time to delete my newbish attempts at BASIC programs. _________________

One of the things that makes me uneasy, as an experienced programmer and teacher, is when people claim to know a language well but haven't actually written anything. I know that most of us have learned via trial and error and examining existing code, rather than simply reading about a language feature by feature. At any rate, keep us posted on your projects and coding! _________________

It's Spyro543. And I honestly have no clue about any of his programs, as hes still learning it, but I did talk to him irl and he's concentrating on making a computer, hardware first, so he's not focused on software yet. And I almost forgot, I know 0x5. So I'm mainly working on python until he starts programing it.
I wish he would have posted about it first... _________________

Yeah, we have helped him with some of his hardware explorations, but from what I have seen of his work, I believe he is still in the very early stages. I can't seem to find his topic here at the moment, but I know that I have read about it before. _________________

I completely forgot to introduce myself -- thank you Kerm for the reminder.
I write and port TI-BASIC for all calcs, and I've posted some files on ticalc.org already. I'm too lazy to upload all of my software, but it's mostly math and physics programs. I'm currently working on solar and lunar position calculators using the getTime on the 84+ and 68k calcs. I also do a disproportionate amount of TI-82 BASIC. |

I'm glad that you finally introduced yourself. You should post up a few topics about your projects in the Your Projects subforum, if you'd like, and you should also upload them to our Archives. Are you familiar with SourceCoder, jsTIfied, and our other tools? _________________

I have started "Learning Assembly in 28 Days". Can anyone give me any tips ? I wonder are there any example programs that I can study?
For example, what should I learn to accomplish first ?
Thanks! |

Welcome ti83head! There are quite a few resources out there for learning Assembly. Unfortunately finding the good ones isn't always easy, and some people relate better to different teaching methods.
In terms of what you should try to accomplish first, I believe that simply depends on what kind of programs you're looking to write. How I learnt was by reading some tutorials (as you are doing) and then reading the source code of other programmers' games and working out how they worked.
Of course, as you try to program things, if you have specific questions or issues, I'm sure if you post on here, there will be plenty of people willing to help _________________ www.jvti.org |

Thanks! | Welcome to Cemetech, TI83Head! What other languages have you played with before? Have you used TI-BASIC before? I recommend you start with a simple Hello World program, and read lots and lots of others' code to learn. You should use the Doors CS SDK, not the toolchain that ASM in 28 Days recommends, as the DCS SDK is much easier to use. _________________

Hi all I'm Tom!
I have been interested in TI Calculators for about 6 months now, a friend told me about the TI Calcutators and showed me some games he had made and since then, I'm hooked! I own a TI-84+Silver Edition TI calculator and a older HP 200 LX pocket computer. I came here because i like all your projects like the floppy music player and wanted to share mine. |

Welcome to Cemetech, Tom! Glad you like all of the projects we have going here, and looking forward to seeing yours. Do you write BASIC, ASM, both, other languages? Any computer languages? Still learning? What projects have you made, and what do you have underway? Be sure to post Your Projects topic(s) about whatever you have going on in the way of future, current, or completed projects. _________________

I'm glad you have an interest in low-level stuff, as that is my particular love as well. What languages do you write? What projects have you completed, and what do you have underway? What ever happened with your Starwar project? _________________

| Hello! I'm from North Augusta South Carolina, but am currently attending the Governor's School for Science and Math in Hartsville, South Carolina. I am somewhat new to z80 programming (aside from TI-BASIC, which I have worked with since 8th grade) and I know assembly and am working with glassos in sdcc currently. I am already proficient in C programming and many C-like languages and x86 assembly. |
