If we used it more for the contest it probably wouldnt hurt to keep it but I don't think it's been used for years. We hsve jsTIfied, SourceCoder, and other projects but we don't have any links in the same place like we do the calendar.

I went through the calendar before posting this and I found a few news articles tied to dates but that's it. Nothing really important in my opinion. No contests, no book.

It's definitely a feature we could use more, I just don't see any reason to get rid of something useful.
Especially considering how tightly-woven it is into the forum.

Hence my remarks about no contests and book events Wink

Update: Added link to profile within "Weclome back, User!"

Please please please make the underlining go away. Nothing else on the page is underlined.
Very much agreed. Every other link is a hover.

I will. I underlined it so people see it at first. I was afraid it'd go unnoticed in a sea of white text, since it itself isn't a bullet like the othe links. So that was my way of drawing attention to it.

Your latter point is a good one. I do indeed agree that it might be hard for people to notice, since it won't be distinguished by color or by text decoration. We'll have to ponder what we could do about that; maybe square brackets?

Yes, we should fix that so that people will have more incentive to use the calendar!

Or just put one of those cute little triangle bullets before the username as well?

I was actually thinking a dotted underline. that was gray or a red of some sort.

We can always let it be an easter egg ;D

I've done the dotted underline before for FB stuff in SAX, and iirc, Kerm didn't like the look of it. Easter eggs are always nice

Indeed, it just didn't fit with the rest of the visual theme for me. Smile

The MSN_IMG is missing still/again. Also, can we make the UTI profile info not-blue? It's kinda weird looking. I wouldn't mind attempting to redo the layout of the profile a bit more actually, but I can mess around with that in the GIMP sometime. It's just starting to look a bit cluttered.

Fixed the MSN image (again). One of these days I'm going to swap out the ICQ thing for Twitter, by the way, since I doubt more than one or two of our close to three thousand users actually use ICQ.

I had one one time, but I don't think I ever filled it in here. Also, can you double check that the fields on the profile editing page for ticalc and Y!M are all aligned with the proper labels? I remember having problems with that a while back (my Y!M info disappeared).

The graphs in the profiles should be links to higher-res graphs.

The graph on your face should be a link to a higher-res face. Wink

I kind of like that idea, though depending on the highness of the res, we would have to update robots.txt so Google Images doesn't eat the bandwidth.

I think the dates should just be MM/YY format, too, so that they fit a bit better.

Actually, I think I should take the dates at the bottom out entirely, and just use the year lines at the top.

But then how will you know which month you're looking at?

I think the names in list of online users should be links to their profiles.

I think cemetech needs and easy button. Wink Wink

Ok onto real things. A spoiler tag would really be awesome. We _can_ Just use pastebin and link the code, or tinypic for pictures. I just think a spoiler tag would look more professional.

If this was mentioned before, sorry for the repeat.

It's not a bad idea, but I have concerns about Google getting too overhappy about that. User profiles (first Albert, now Zelda and Calc84) keep showing up in the Google Sitelinks, and I'm both concerned and baffled.

Now that's funny. However, you can get rid of them.

Indeed, and I already have all three users' profiles denied. However, the fact that two more showed up after I blocked the first one makes me worry how the algorithm is working. Perhaps I need to nofollow the profile links in each post.
