So, I know that there are stupid ads out there, but this one was the stupidest one yet I've seen. It obviously was intended to be put on some filesharing website so people would accidentally click on it, but it stood alone on facebook with nothing else surrounding it. Unfortunately I didn't tag the whole page so it's not as funny, but...
Haha, this is one of the most biased and absurd campaign ads I have ever seen.
1. Not biased
2. Not a campaign ad
3. It's true
That's funny, because I used to sell bootleg CDs and DVDs to friends and aquaintences and I was never part of a gang. There were no drugs, no hookers, no guns. It was just me and several hours on my computer searching for and downloading what was wanted and burning it to a disc. I wish that video was accurate, it might have been fun to have a bunch of half-naked women cut my cocaine while I count my money.
Also, #'s 1 & 3 are a tautology and #2 is technically false. This ad is part of a campaign against piracy(a campaign that I should remind you includes pushing bills like SOPA and PROTECT IP).

It's implying what "Only a few dollars" can mean. It doesn't say that every time someone pirates something, all those things happen. It's also a protest of counterfeiting in general, not just video piracy.
For #1 and 3, Truth does not imply lack of bias, and lack of bias does not imply truth. For example I could omit critical pieces of information that would bias the truth towards my side, and I could make a completely unbiased statement that was false, such as "The sky is green." _________________ Code:

seana.... no? Piracy rarely involves child labor or gang violence. They are just people burning stuff to a disc, or, in other cases, just someone taking a crappy recording of the theater version. Seriously, how does someone burning something on a disc equate to children working in a sweat shop? _________________

Notice how at the end of the video it says "Know the real cost. Don't buy counterfeits." Nothing about piracy in there. _________________ Code:

Note that the video is targeting organised counterfeiting, not some bloke downloading things in their bedroom to burn to discs to sell to their friends and family. I just hope they don't start sticking that sort of thing at the start of discs - having bought a legitimate copy I'm not exactly in the target audience. There were plans in the UK to replace those ads with a positive thank-you message instead, but I haven't seen them yet (admittedly I tend to buy older DVDs or Blu-ray). The Masters of Cinema series display a friendly notice after the film, which works nicely for me.

I've seen those before, actually. One shows a street vendor, the other shows a fancy rigged up download on a teen's computer. It specifically attacked pirating movies, though. _________________ Hmm...what to put here....

So you like kitten videos on youtube, but have you ever actually tried to raise one? I've raised two, and they are disgusting little demons. I'll take a 20-year-old cat over a newborn kitten any day.

Perhaps you just got some really ill tempered kittens? I've never had any kitten problems. _________________
Georges Schwizgebel is truly an amazing animator. His other short films are worth digging out (see 78 Tours, for example) though I haven't been able to find a video release.
