| Great. So not only are the "evil communist" countries building taller buildings than us, they're also exploring space at a much faster rate. |

At this stage in the game China is much closer to fascism than communism. They have an authoritarian government and private-ownership based market economy. _________________ StickFigure Graphic Productions || VSHI: Vermont Sustainable Heating Initiative

The Russians are setting goals to try to build a lunar colony utilizing the lava tubes that are on the moon as a means of protection from space debris, and as a way to eliminate costs of digging and a good chunk of construction.
And no, I don't want to hear whining about the US not doing it, or any other political post.
Regardless of who gets up there, it needs to be done. _________________ Projects: AOD Series: 70% | FFME: 80% | Pokemon: 18% | RPGSK: 60% | Star Trek: 70% | Star Trek 83+: 40% | TI-City: 5%

I saw mention of that as well. Also, I didn't think our technology had evolved enough to be able to get that kind of detail from a planet that is so far away..? _________________ Projects: AOD Series: 70% | FFME: 80% | Pokemon: 18% | RPGSK: 60% | Star Trek: 70% | Star Trek 83+: 40% | TI-City: 5%

| Well apparently we can distinguish between natural and artificial light, but I don't see how we could tell that about light that comes from a source we haven't discovered yet. And then there's the possibility that any advanced civilization would want to cloak their presence from less evolved beings like us, and would thus limit their artificial light pollution for just this reason. |

Apparently The Register, a UK based tech news outlet, launched a paper airplane from space! See link below for video details.

"Head NRL group scientist Russ Howard and lead ground systems engineer Nathan Rich say the mysterious object is in fact Mercury itself. And what we're seeing in the footage is the equivalent of Mercury's wake, "where the planet was on the previous day," as it travels through the solar system on its natural gravitational path"
As much as I would love for there to be alien spaceships [full of blue women] hiding in our solar system waiting to make first contact with man, this isn't evidence of that. It's a photographic artifact occurring from the method used to process the image data. Think about it, anything we can see, a more advanced race could see better. That means they can cover their tracks far better than we can search for them. |

NASA found an alien planet in the habitable zone of its star. It's called Kepler-22b, and it's 2.4 times the size of Earth, though it does have similar temperatures. | I saw that as well; now we have places to go, so we just need to stop wasting money taking baby steps into space exploration and start creating arc ships. _________________
